While even I had some level of disappointment with the
lineup for this years Warped, excitement is extrememly high
amongst my metal friends, and the younger sisters of Unionrocks.
With heavy legends, like White Chapel and Suicide Solution on the
bill, the headbangers in our crew are pumped, and assure this punk
that the vibe will be awesome. No doubt the old school punks
of Warped will have to make do with The Casualties (Unionrocks
mosh pit party) and Sum 41's return to the Warped stages, the Ur
crew are all excited for a variety of this years acts.
Were also getting ready to bring our always engaging activism
to this years event, with great giveaways, and tons of pro union
pro youth energy....Tix are already on sale at ticketmaster, and the
UR bus is filling up, so if you want to be part of this years
Rock and Roll activist adventure get in touch now...
CHECK OUT THIS YEARS LINEUP!!!

WITH THE SUN SHINING, AND A LARGE
CREW OF EXCITED UNIONROCKS ACTIVISTS ARMED WITH
OUR UBER KEWL GIVEAWYS, WARPED 15, UNIONROCKS 3RD
OFFICIAL YEAR TAKING PART, WAS WITHOUTA DOUBT
AN UNQUALIFIED SUCCESS.

FROM THE PIT TO THE VENDING AREA, OUR BLACK BANDANNAS,
WERE SEEN, ON HEADS, AROUND ARMS, AROUND NECKS.
OUR THEME OF FIST IN THE AIR TIME WAS HEARD AND ECHOED
FROM THE STAGES, AND ONCE AGAIN UNIONROCKS HAD
ONE HELL OF A BLAST TURNING IT UP FOR ORGANIZED LABOUR.

THE WARPED TRIBE KNOWING THAT WHEN YOUR BROTHER
OR SISTER IS DOWN YOU PICK THEM UP, EAGERLY SIGNED
OUR PETITION TO REFORM EI!

AND NO DOUBT THE TRIBE WAS SLIGHTLY LARGER, THANKS
TO THE AWESOME LINEUP, AND THE UR CREW REPORTS AWESOME
SETS BY OF COURSE ANTI FLAG, BAD RELIGION, NOFX, AND
FLOGGING MOLLY **(COMING TO TORONTO AND KITCHENER OCTOBER)
AND OTHERS RAVING ABOUT 3OH3,

AND SUMNER WHO HAVE BEEN OUR HOSTS FOR THREE YEARS AND BEEN
MAKING THE MAGIC THAT IS WARPED HAPPEN FOR 15 YEARS NOW. WE
AT UNIONROCKS, THANK THEM FOR THE BEST DAY OF MUSIC EACH
SUMMER, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE OUR ALL SO IMPORTANT
MESSAGE TO THE FANS THERE. WITH THREE YEARS NOW UNDER OUR

With just the initial line up announced Vans
Warped Tour's 15th installment promises to
be an unreal celebration of the music, bands
and spirit that have made Warped an absolute
must be at event and icon of alternative and youth
culture. Some of unionrocks faves are already booked,
and Kevin Lyman and the folks at VWT, seem
committed to restoring the greatness of Warped, and with
the promise of more acts to be named, this is going to
among the best lineups yet...We can only hope the venue
not yet named, is not the parking lot from hell we endured
last year at Arrow Hall: Downsview, the Island???????pls
make it on grass.

Unionrocks is already planning for our
Warped adventure this year, and we are
pumpedto make our 3rd, (yes 3rd)
appearance, the best and biggest rockin
day of labour activism ever. If you want
on the Bus, and to help us get ready
contact us now, interest is already started
and bus will fill up!

OK the venue was less than ideal, the crowds were way down,
there was no real headliner and even mother nature seemed to want to
mock the fourteenth installment of Vans iconic summer youth festival. But hey hidden behind an industrial
strip mall on a sea of concrete with strip clubs, and body rub parlors
as neighbours, the atmosphere was pure punk..(note to self , custom band aids..)
The unionrocks crew reports awesome sets by the Street Dogs, St Alvia Cartel, Bouncing Souls,
Protest the Hero. The Briggs did not disappoint though they deserved a bigger stage and audience
for their smokin mid afternoon set that had the fists in the air...And pennywise delivered, with even the
rain relenting and devotees blown away by one of Punks powerhouses return to a Canadian stage..
Craziest Moment: The Johnstones playing their set on the Union Records stage in Diapers and bibs!
Best Moment: Seeing Warped goers joining the Mosh Pit Union, and getting off on the UR tent.
Fist In The Air Moment: The Briggs set...just listen to them..........
Funnest Moment: rockin out in the rain, as a late band on the Dtox stage ripped into Billy Idol!
Scariest Moment: See Johnstones above...
Best When your brother or sister is down moment: Unionrocks and OFL rep, Pam Frache, both
chipping in as Band Emelia from Thunder Bay wrote off car on way to show, and were raising
funds for long trip home..

Biggest Disappointment: Rise Against joining the tour in Calgary next week, will make it an
entirely different day.
Thanks to The Power Workers Union, The Grey Bruce District Labour Council and it`s executive,
The Canadian Labour Congress, The Ontario Federation Of Labour, The Canadian Office
Professional Employees, and The Council of Canadians, whose material support helped make
Unionrocks at Warped a success. Big thanks and Solidarity to Pam Frache Director of Education and chair of the
O F L Workers Under 30 Committee., Erin Harrison National Youth Representative for the Canadian Labour
Congress, and John Macdonald from the CAW, who came by the tent, helped spread the union message,
and helped anchor the UR tent when the winds whipped up.

With no venue yet announced for the Toronto installment of this years Warped Tour, we at Unionrocks are busy planning for an all out Fist in The Air Festival, as the people from Fini and Vans bring what is sure to be the craziest party ever to Hogtown. Though we are just in the planning stages and are yet to embark upon our PR for the event, UR is anxious, following our kick ass success at last years show to really make Warped an awesome party, and a meaningful adventure. With our economy in a tailspin, good jobs becoming scarecer and scarcer, UR is gonna not only be working hard to strengthen our unions and all our workers with our campaigns for a liveable minimum wage and Card based certification, but were gonna be out there actively talking to young concert goers about the union job opportunities that ROCK. The lineup is up and posted at warpedtour.com, and it is awesome. ( Though there is hope that a headliner or two might be added)...... Stay Tuned, Toronto Presale has not yet happened, and we will be letting you know.......

WARPED 13: THE MAYHEM CONTINUES!

THOUGH THERE IS SOME GRUMBLING WITH THE LINEUP, AND THE BATTLE BETWEEN THE HARDCORE PUNK AND THE EMO CROWD WAS APPARRENT AND DIVISIVE, THE FOLKS AT VANS AND FINI ONCE AGAINED DELIVERED THE BEST YOUTH FESTIVAL OF THE SUMMER, KILLER SETS BY BLEED THE DREAM, NEW FOUND GLORY, KILLSWITCH, BAD RELIGION AND FLOGGING MOLLY HAD THE DUST AT PARK PLACE FLYING ALL DAY. AS IS THE NORM THE LINEUPS SUCKED..(WHY NOT OPEN THE SECOND GATE) WATER WAS SCARCE AND EXPENSIVE..(BORDERS ON NEGLIGENT), AND LIMITED CHOICE AND AVAILABILITY OF FOOD. BUT ALL IN ALL THE WARPED TRIBE GATHERED ONCE AGAIN, THE FISTS WERE IN THE AIR, AND UNIONROCKS KICKED IT UP FOR ORGANIZED LABOUR AND THE VOTE YES FOR MMP CAMPAIGN. 364 MORE SLEEPS TILL NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!.

WHAT A DAY, JOIN UNIONROCKS AS WE PREPARE FOR MORE ROCKIN ADVENTURES, SIGN UP IN THE FORUM AND EMAIL ME YOUR PICS..MORE PICS TO COME...PEACE

Oh man Vancouver and Calgary already over, and though Unionrocks wasnt there, we can feel the energy building as Warped continues it's 13th year of music and mayhem. The reports we are getting are of awesome bands ripping it up, and great crowds enjoying the bands, the booths and a huge Take Action Zone full of really great ways to get involved with projects for positive change in our world. Click to read the Warped Tours official pit reporters take on her first trip to Canada.
July 30 Pomona California: The grand travelling caravan of punk spirit, part awesome music fest, part amazing party, part freak show, part youth political emapowermnet rally, Warped begins. In it's thirteenth year the vision of Kevin Lyman is now without a doubt the best summer festival there is, and Unionrocks is proud that we will indeed be there in Warped's Take Action Zone for Barrie and Montreal. We will be raising labours banner and our loud proud voice to some of the key campaigns that must be fought. We are also looking forward to Bad Religion this years headliners, and one of the longest travelling and loudest voices of musical political dissent around. We are organizing the busses now, so get your tickets, and sign up in the FORUM, Warped is always amazing, Unionrocks at Warped is gonna be unreal. We' ll be there givbing away lots of our cool merch, so look for us in the lineup, and come visit our booth, sign the petitions, join Unionrocks, and get ready, cause we are coming to PARTY, and Turn It UP Turn It Loud and Turn It Around!!!! The Wait for Warped is Just about over.....can you say Get your Fists In The Air!!!!!
" I cant wait to get to the UNIONROCKS booth"
NO LABOUR VOICE AT VANCOUVER AND CALGARY!! Despite our best efforts, and some good people out on the coast pushing our plan, the magnitude of pulling off this years Warped Canada tour for Unionrocks, has become financiallly undoable. Yes we are bummed, it is hard to accept that every other political movement will be there, fighting in the mosh pit for the hearts and minds of the Warped Tribe, and our offer to carry labours flag there has came sadly to late to overcome the necessary political process for funding. We are really stewed knowing that we will now not get to see Pennywise and several other bands who wont be at Barrie or Montreal,, but we are still pumped. For those of you out on the coast please send us pics, well send you a free tshirt, For those in Ontario and Quebec, get your friends together, contact us and lets get the union punks to Warped, UR is going to be there to Turn IT Up Turn It Loud Turn It Around. And to make Warped the absolute blast it should be. To Stay up to date on all Warped happenings click here
